Maya Lin has maintained a careful balance between art and architecture throughout her career, having virtually redefined the idea of the monument with her Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial. She has since gone on to successfully pursue the creation of a remarkable body of work that encompasses large-scale site-specific installations, intimate studio artworks, architecture, and memorials. A committed environmentalist and graduate of Yale University, Lin has received numerous awards including the Presidential Design Award, the Mayor’s Award for Arts and Culture, an AIA Honor Award, and the Finn Juhl Prize.
