Twenty years from now, as Americans struggle to stay afloat in an increasingly volatile economy, a new technology emerges, allowing everyday people to rent out a portion of their brain’s processing power to a company called MindShare. Some members of society, including Pat, the inventor of the technology itself, and her eccentric group of friends, oppose widespread use of the technology due to its adverse effects and form a resistance movement: MindShare Oppositional Action Network. However, when Pat and her friends meet Lucy, an artificial intelligence who’s new in town, their priorities begin to shift.
