Seventh Annual Jack Glazier Lecture Series: Bernard C. Perley

Tuesday, February 18 at 4:30pm to 5:30pm

Hallock Auditorium, Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies
122 Elm Street, Oberlin, OH 44074

Bernard C. Perley, associate pprofessor at the University Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will present ‘‘Having Reservations: Humor and the Arts of Healing.’’

“Having Reservations” is the working title for Perley’s cartoon series that graphically portrays the ironies and perplexities of everyday life in Native North America. The cartoons are intended to bring Native American and settler/colonial audiences together to laugh at the absurdities inherent in popular cultural imaginaries regarding the First Peoples of North America.

In his talk, he will discuss the role the comics play in healing historical trauma as experienced by the First Peoples.
